Bram Kerkhofs
Belgique
Bram Kerkhofs’ objects are characterized on the one hand by the possibility of transformation via knots, hinges or links, on the other hand, they are the result of an in-depth search for the right balance between material, form and construction. From a search for perfection in the combination of materials, forms and techniques, attention to detail and finish and a nose for composition and proportions, he creates timeless functional objects with great depth . Strength, tension and stability often form the basis from which the balance between composition and construction is sought. Kerkhofs always studies the relationship between parts and wholes, both in his work and in individual conceptions, which often results in modular systems with huge variations in formal possibilities. Bram Kerkhofs (° 1977) lives and works in Louvain (Belgium). He holds a master’s degree in goldsmithing at the MAD faculty in Hasselt and is a professor of design at the Luca School of Arts in Ghent and Brussels.
