Sébastien Cordoleani

France

Born in 1978, Sébastien Cordoleani, graduated from Ensci in 2004, began in a forward-looking design cell, then integrates Andrée Putman’s studio. After one collaboration with Franck Fontana from 2006, he opened his own studio
design in 2010. His background and his various experiences have enabled him to tame natural materials such as wood or leather, materials that he
particularly fond of.

Its areas of intervention cover industrial products, furniture and space,
from the prospective phases to the final realization, in order to be as close as possible of the user.

In addition to his Audi, Ricard, Mustache, Gandia Blasco, Cinna collaborations, he deepens the Matière à Penser project, initiated in 2006. This approach is based on the observation of materials and know-how. Sébastien then causes regular partnerships with craftsmen and manufacturers, such as Selaneuf, la Manufacture de Sèvres, the Papabubble confectionery, and excellent craftsmen at Mexico and Japan.

His design work is distinguished on several occasions: Grand Prize winner
of the creation of the city of Paris in 2005, of the residency program at the Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto in 2007, the Audi Talents Awards competition as well as the Grand Design Parade Prize at Villa Noailles the same year.
Her project continues in Taiwan at the Center for Crafts Research, NTCRI, focused on two endemic materials: mineral and bamboo. In order to continue its works in connection with natural materials, Sébastien focuses on the work of wood. He first took part in the Academy of Knowledge organized by the Foundation Hermès and then completes a year of residency at Corte for Fabbrica Design – Wood. In 2016, he founded the Archipel-Paris brand; a local bag manufacturer and of seamless leather objects.
