Victor Cadene

His first emotions, those of childhood, Victor Cadene draw them in Ardèche, in the colors and scents of his family home’s garden. The place is decorated with furniture and found objects, maternal passion quickly assimilated. Very young, he meets the colorist-artist Edwige Delcambre. She will teach him color, furniture’s history and the one of the decorative arts. She also encourages him to attend the School of Applied Arts in Valencia.

Victor Cadene starts drawing and discovers a passion: sublimating things. He also cultivates his taste for the past without really giving in to nostalgia, nourishes his love of fragility, endorses Roberto Peregalli’s novel, Places and dust. One day he pushes the door of a singular shop in Lyon, A Castle in Spain, a sensitive and heteroclite gallery where old and unusual objects coexist. Victor stays there for two years, polishing his sense of scenography and his aesthetic patina, sharpening his eye to learn to love the wrinkles, imperfections, an object.

His first interior design project, Victor Cadene draws it with his hands, making a paper theater that has become more than a mode of expression dreamlike, his artistic signature.

Composition, colors, patterns … his talent as a designer is already out and he begins selling his drawings in 2016 for what they are and what they represent, regardless of their predisposition to take shape in the real world. Passing through Milan, Victor rubs shoulders with, the time of a two-year-old enchanted interlude, the artistic and creative scene of the vibrant Italian city. When he returns to Lyon, he attacks the meaning of the secrets of color and its symbolism, working at the manufacturer of paintings Ressource before making some of its windows.

In 2017, a publication on the website The Socialite Family opens him a new window on the world. Victor Cadene is contacted by the luxury french house Hermès, for which he draws several sets for Shang Xia shops, then multiplies the round trips to London where he will choose and often draw, wallpaper, handle, dyes and other details of a 700m2 house.

A work of decorative art for this artist who chose, a long time ago, a characteristic and intimate drawing format forcing the viewer to come closer to capture all the details.
