Description

Restaurant 3***, Laguiole, Michel Bras.

This building, balanced between earth and air, defies the elements.

It was designed in 1992, with the help of architects Éric Raffy and Philippe Villeroux A luminous place where only infinity interrupts the gaze, where granite and slate suggest burons, this construction like the country that shelters it is revealed little by little. Thus, the draille – a former shepherd’s path – which crosses the buildings, reveals the village of Laguiole as though through a fault. The layout of this place was entirely guided by the discovery and revelation of Aubrac. The architecture, as rigorous as the country, takes up its codes and its materials – light, plants, minerals – to interpret them in a pure, contemporary way.

Éric Raffy is an architect who graduated from the Bordeaux school in 1978. He has designed numerous pieces of furniture and objects such as for Soca or Laguiole. In 1995, he received the Architecture Medal from the Académie Dejan and especially the showroom of designer Paco Rabanne (Paris 6 °), the 3 *** Michel Bras restaurant in Laguiole, or Ushiku Daibutsu, a 120 m tall Buddha. top in Tokyo which also received the 1994 APIDA Award in Hong Kong.

Professor at Penninghen – Paris from 1999 to 2004, Éric Raffy signed numerous projects such as the Sofitel in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil (2002) and the Club Med Hotel Kanifinolhu in the Maldives.
