Timothée Musset

France

During his Tour de France years as a carpenter within the Association Ouvrière des Compagnons du Devoir, Timothée Musset had the chance to work on historic monuments which he could rub shoulders with ancestral woods formerly shaped by hand and then by time. After a visit to the design office, there was a desire to return to the subject. He then decides to place himself in a process of transmission, around the sensitivity of the woods which have already gone through centuries but which have sometimes been abandoned. It was at this time that he created Atelier Musset. The goal is to show that this matter only needs to be magnified again, while showing its faults as integral parts of its beauty. As for the forms, they allow to convey a new appearance of the material as an element rich in vitality, where the whole brings a new language. They are essential to bring the eye back to the wood and take a new look. Thus, once the light is brought to this furniture, it changes and appears transformed and warm. So, alone or in collaboration, Timothée Musset’s objective is to take a new look at what seems obsolete, to remember that time does not destroy, it shapes the material down to the smallest detail, all for to be contemplated.
