Graphic views of the sky generated by combining real-time weather data (75 cities available)
What would a sunrise or sunset look like if certain meteorological data were to redefine its colors, their combinations, and their intensity? This is precisely what the project Sky Hues sets out to explore — reconnecting (through a different kind of realism) with the tradition of landscape painting, from Giorgione to Claude Monet or William Turner.
By combining, for more than 75 capitals and major cities around the world, real-time variations in Temperature (°C), Humidity (water vapor content of air or Relative Humidity in %), Solar Radiation (power in W/m²), Air Quality (Air Quality Index, AQI), and Nitrogen Dioxide levels in the atmosphere (expressed in mg/m³), we obtain a completely new perspective on the sky — an original visual-graphic interpretation that also allows for meaningful comparisons.
In addition to the color gradients — from pale pink to red for temperature, orange to bright red for Humidity, orange-gray to radiant yellow for Solar Radiation, gray-green-blue to Royal blue for Air Quality, and finally green-gray to dark blue for Nitrogen Dioxide — the overall opacity of the composition shifts depending on the time of day. From dusk until 7 a.m. the next morning, opacity gradually decreases until it reaches 20%.
